Strategy, Programme Design & School Partnerships
Sheerwan O’Shea-Nejad leads strategy, programme design, and school partnerships at OxPrep, an education company focused on rigorous, school-embedded Oxbridge preparation. He brings a system-level understanding of how successful Oxbridge pipelines are built and sustained within schools, with a particular focus on translating admissions insight into coherent programmes that integrate with existing academic and pastoral structures rather than operating as isolated interventions.
Sheerwan studied at the University of Oxford, where he ranked top of his course. He has also studied at University College London and the University of Nottingham, broadening his exposure to evidence-based pedagogy, educational research, and differing academic cultures. This academic formation shaped a strong interest in how institutions identify potential, raise aspiration responsibly, and support students through demanding intellectual transitions.
Professionally, Sheerwan has taught in some of the UK’s highest-performing Oxbridge schools, including Queen Elizabeth’s School and The Henrietta Barnett School. Working in these environments gave him direct, practical insight into what distinguishes effective preparation in practice: long-term sequencing, strong academic culture, meaningful enrichment, and close alignment between teaching, guidance, and pastoral support. His experience spans classroom teaching, enrichment programmes, and wider school initiatives, allowing him to see how Oxbridge readiness develops across cohorts rather than through last-minute preparation.
From this experience, Sheerwan developed a clear preparation philosophy. His approach treats Oxbridge success as the outcome of coherent institutional practice, not individual tutoring alone. He has observed how academically strong students can falter when preparation is poorly timed or misaligned, and how schools with effective pipelines embed challenge, independence, and intellectual confidence well before application year. These insights directly inform how OxPrep works with schools today.
Alongside teaching, Sheerwan has taken on leadership roles within the education sector. He is a British Council–accredited University Counsellor, reflecting formal training in admissions guidance and ethical practice. He has also served as founding president of a national teachers’ association, where he worked to connect educators, share best practice, and develop leadership capability across schools. In this capacity, he has represented teachers at parliamentary roundtables, contributing practitioner insight to discussions on education and policy.
At OxPrep, Sheerwan is responsible for shaping how the organisation partners with schools. He works closely with senior leaders, heads of sixth form, and university guidance teams to understand existing provision and ensure that OxPrep’s programmes integrate cleanly and add value. His role includes overseeing programme design, maintaining quality and consistency, and ensuring that OxPrep’s work aligns with schools’ academic priorities and pastoral responsibilities.
This perspective underpins OxPrep’s mission: supporting schools to raise standards of Oxbridge preparation in ways that are rigorous, coherent, and sustainable. By grounding the organisation’s work in the realities of high-performing schools, Sheerwan helps institutions build structured pathways that prepare students intellectually and pastorally for the demands of Oxbridge selection.
